How to Create an Online Course Using Grok (Elon’s AI Explained)

grok kajabi

Creating an online course used to be overwhelming. Between choosing the right topic, building modules, recording content, and setting up marketing and tech tools—it felt like launching a second business. But now, with the rise of generative AI tools like Grok, Elon Musk’s conversational AI integrated with X (formerly Twitter), things are changing fast. In this post (and in the YouTube video embedded above and linked here), I’m going to walk you through exactly how I used Grok to build an online course from scratch—and how you can too.

This isn’t theory. I applied this process to create a real-world course for my brand Athlete With Asthma. I’ll share every step of the journey—from idea validation and naming to learner transformation statements, course outlines, and marketing—all generated and iterated with Grok. Whether you’re a coach, consultant, educator, or entrepreneur, you’ll walk away knowing how to create an online course using Grok—efficiently, creatively, and powerfully.

Step 1: Ideation with Grok – Finding the Gap in the Market

When I sat down to build a new course, I didn’t have a specific topic nailed down. I knew I wanted to serve runners with asthma—because that’s my journey—but I didn’t want to bias the AI too early. Instead, I prompted Grok to conduct research on what online courses already existed for athletes with asthma and what gaps could be filled.

Grok delivered a goldmine. It showed me that while there were general asthma resources out there—WebMD, American Lung Association, and a few coaching programs—there were almost no structured learning experiences specifically for runners or endurance athletes with asthma. That alone was enough validation. Then I asked Grok to generate 25 potential course ideas. The results? A mix of practical, inspiring, and wildly creative topics ranging from “Breath Control for Peak Performance” to “Asthma-Proof Your Marathon Training.”

The key insight here was to go broad with my prompts at first. If I had immediately told Grok I wanted a course for runners with asthma, it might have echoed my idea back without challenging it. But by letting it research the landscape, it helped me confirm that my niche had room for a highly targeted, high-impact offering.

Step 2: Naming the Course – From “Run Far” to “Asthma Proof Runner”

Naming your course is like naming a book. It has to be catchy, actionable, and clear about the result your learner will achieve. I asked Grok to generate 10 course names based on everything we’d uncovered so far. Then I had it rate each name based on three key metrics: click-through rate potential, clarity of transformation, and memorability.

One name stood out: Asthma Proof Runner. It scored 29/30 on Grok’s rubric and perfectly captured what I wanted to communicate—empowering people with asthma to stop fearing their lungs and start running free. Another favorite of mine was “From Wheeze to Win,” which I ended up using as a tagline.

This process with Grok saved me hours. In the past, I’d brainstorm names with a whiteboard and friends. Now, I’m iterating with a high-speed creative partner who understands both branding and user psychology.

Step 3: Crafting the Learner Transformation Statement (LTS)

If you’ve followed my work at eLearning Partners, you know that everything starts with the Learner Transformation Statement—a clear, concise articulation of the “before” and “after” of your learner’s journey.

I asked Grok to write 10 learner transformation statements based on eLearning Partners' methodology. Then I layered in a more advanced prompt, asking it to assume the voice of our brand and factor in that point A should reflect fear, confusion, or inaction—and point Z should reflect not just capability, but actual results.

Here’s the winning version:
“Start as a runner paralyzed by asthma fears, unsure how to train without flareups, and become an asthma proof runner who triumphs in your first 5K, 10K, or marathon—armed with expert breathing techniques, training plans, and resilience strategies from an elite ultra runner.”

That’s not just an aspiration—it’s a roadmap. And Grok helped me get there in under 15 minutes.

Step 4: Building the Course Structure – From Mindset to Race Day

Next, I asked Grok to identify the five core learning outcomes—or milestones—that would help my students go from point A to point Z. Here's what it delivered:

  1. Build mental resilience to manage asthma-related fears

  2. Master smart breathing techniques to prevent flare-ups

  3. Create a personalized asthma action plan for safe training

  4. Follow an asthma-proof training plan for race preparation

  5. Execute race day strategies with confidence

These weren’t just bullet points—they became the foundation of my course outline. I had Grok expand on each one, offering video topics, exercises, and even ideas for community engagement and coaching.

This step was critical. A good online course isn’t a content dump—it’s a guided journey. And Grok helped me frame that journey in a way that was structured, motivational, and learner-centered.

Step 5: Designing a Full Learning Experience (Not Just a Course)

This is where most online courses fall short: they give you videos, maybe some PDFs, and hope you stay motivated. But I wanted to build something transformational. So I asked Grok to design an interactive learning experience based on my milestones—including community, coaching, and even virtual runs with me.

Grok responded with ideas I hadn’t even considered. It suggested guided visualizations, weekly challenges, live Q&As, and a tiered coaching model where learners could upgrade to join me on actual runs—virtually or in person. That blew me away.

This is the future of learning. Not passive consumption, but active transformation. And with AI, you can build that kind of experience faster and smarter than ever before.

Step 6: Outlining and Recording Each Module with AI Help

With the structure locked, I asked Grok to create a detailed content plan for Module 1: Mental Resilience. It gave me a full video script outline, estimated timing, supporting resources (like self-talk worksheets and audio visualizations), and suggestions for how to integrate community discussion prompts and weekly challenges.

At this point, I turned to Descript (grab your free trial here), one of my favorite AI video editing tools. I used Descript to record and edit my videos, create captions, and even generate AI voiceovers when needed. Between Grok and Descript, I cut my content creation time by over 70%.

If you're new to recording course content, I recommend starting with one solid video per milestone. Keep it simple, personal, and actionable. Grok will help you stay focused and consistent.

Step 7: Choosing and Integrating the Right eLearning Platform

Now that I had my course content, I needed to bring it to life online. This is where my eLearning Platform Finder tool came in handy. I built this tool to help creators and companies choose the best LMS or online course platform based on their goals, audience, and tech level.

For all of my courses, I use Kajabi (grab free trial and bonuses here), because I needed community features, seamless payment integration, and the ability to scale coaching offers. If you’re not sure which platform is right for you, use this link for my eLearning Platform Finder—I’ll match you with the perfect fit and even throw in a free setup course.

Step 8: Writing the Sales Page with Grok

Marketing your course is just as important as building it. I asked Grok to write the hero section of my sales page, followed by testimonials, benefits breakdowns, and guarantee sections—using real examples from my other successful course pages.

Here’s the opening line Grok came up with:
"Wanna run your first 5K, 10K, or marathon without asthma holding you back? Asthma Proof Runner delivers a proven system, community support, and coaching with an elite ultra runner to help you cross the finish line flare-up free."

With a little editing, that became the lead of my sales page. It’s compelling, outcome-focused, and optimized for click-through—exactly what you want.

Step 9: Launching with Email Sequences Powered by Grok

Finally, I had Grok generate an email sequence to launch the course. I asked it to write five emails, each focusing on a different angle: problem, transformation, proof, urgency, and offer. Then I added a sixth email about the 90-day money-back guarantee to reduce risk for new customers.

What impressed me most was how consistent the tone and positioning were throughout the sequence. And because I built everything with Grok from the start, the messaging never felt disjointed—it was one cohesive narrative.

Final Thoughts: Use Grok to Build, Launch, and Scale

This entire process—from idea to launch—was accelerated and enhanced by Grok. Is it perfect? No. Like all AI tools, it needs direction, iteration, and a critical eye. But when used strategically, Grok is a powerful creative and technical partner.

So if you're wondering how to create an online course using Grok—start with your learner in mind. Use Grok to research, name, outline, script, and promote your course. Layer in platforms like Descript and Kajabi, and you’ll go from concept to launch faster than you ever thought possible.
