How to Use Squadcast & Descript to Record Remote Interviews with SMEs

Before we delve into the specifics of using Squadcast and Descript, we wanted to mention that they are currently a part of one subscription model. Depending on the plan, you will have to pay $15 or more per month for these tools. However, it’s truly a bargain because you get much more than you pay for. 

SquadCast is a recording platform that easily integrates with Descript to transcribe, edit, and enhance your video and audio recordings.

Step 1: Scheduling an Interview with SquadCast

The first step in our workflow is scheduling the interview using SquadCast. Here's how to do it:

  • Log in to your SquadCast dashboard.
  • Click on "New Session" and select "Schedule a Session."
  • Name your session and choose a date and time for the interview.
  • Add participants' email addresses to send them an invitation link.
  • Customize recording settings, including audio and video quality.
  • Share the unique session link with your guests for easy access.

Step 2: Recording with SquadCast

Once the interview is scheduled, participants can join the recording session through the provided link. SquadCast's "Green Room" serves as a staging area, where participants can adjust settings and ensure optimal audio and video quality.

  • Import your SquadCast recording into Descript and let it transcribe the audio.

  • Export your edited recording in your preferred format for distribution.
