Top 5 Micro Learning Platforms You Need in 2025!
Microlearning isn’t just a buzzword. It’s the future of how we teach, train, and transfer knowledge. In this post (and in the YouTube video embedded above and linked here), I’ll share the five microlearning tools I believe you must try in 2025—tools I personally use to run both of my businesses: eLearning Partners and Athlete With Asthma.
Let’s dive in.
What Is Microlearning?
Before we get into the tools, let’s make sure we’re on the same page. What is microlearning?
Microlearning is a method of delivering content in small, focused bursts. The key isn’t the length of time—it’s the clarity of focus. Each microlearning unit should cover just one topic. That could be something as small as a single breathing technique for runners with asthma (which I teach in my Athlete With Asthma brand), or one tech tip for creating a course.
There’s often debate about how long a microlearning lesson should be. Is it 30 seconds? Five minutes? Ten? My answer: as long as it needs to be to clearly teach one topic—no more, no less.
Why Length Isn’t the Point
Many people think microlearning means “short videos,” but that misses the mark. What matters is how focused the content is. If your lesson wanders across multiple ideas, it’s no longer micro.
For example, when I create a podcast episode that’s 30 minutes long, I immediately know that episode can be broken down into five to ten different microlearning pieces. Each of those segments gets turned into its own short—bite-sized, focused, and ready to serve learners with just what they need.
If you’re going over 15 minutes on a single lesson, it’s likely you’re not breaking your topics down enough.
The Two Jobs of a Microlearning Platform
When evaluating microlearning tools, I look at two key functions:
-
Creation – Does it make it easy for me to create microlearning content?
-
Delivery – Does it make it easy for my learners to access and consume it?
Every tool I’m about to share excels in at least one (and usually both) of those areas. Whether you’re teaching customers, employees, or students—these platforms will help you deliver microlearning that actually sticks.
Tool #1: YouTube
Yep, good old YouTube is my first pick. And here’s why:
YouTube is the largest learning platform in the world—even if it’s not technically labeled an LMS. It's free for learners, has massive reach, and supports both short-form and long-form content. I use it for both of my businesses to educate, inspire, and attract the right audience.
For microlearning, YouTube Shorts are a goldmine. I break down longer videos and podcast episodes into 30- to 60-second Shorts that teach one specific point. This not only increases discoverability—it also caters to the way people consume content today. Everyone’s used to short bursts of info, whether it's on TikTok, Instagram Reels, or Shorts.
If you’re not creating microlearning content on YouTube in 2025, you’re leaving a ton of value (and impact) on the table.
Tool #2: Descript
Once I have long-form content recorded, Descript (grab your free trial of Descript here) is my go-to tool to break it down into microlearning pieces.
Descript is an AI-powered platform that turns your videos and audio into editable text. You can highlight a section of the transcript, and boom—it becomes its own short-form video clip. It’s a total game-changer for repurposing content.
I use Descript to create YouTube Shorts, course modules, and even blog posts like this one. It’s how I take one 30-minute podcast episode and turn it into a whole week of microlearning content. The AI (called “Underlord”) helps me pull the best clips, draft captions, generate transcripts, and even create highlight reels.
Descript isn’t a delivery tool—but when it comes to creation, it’s one of the best.
Tool #3: Kajabi
Kajabi (grab your 30-day free trial and bonus course here) is the backbone of both of my businesses. I use it to host my websites, my email lists, and of course, my courses—including microlearning programs.
Kajabi is what I call an external microlearning platform. That means it's built for selling courses to customers. What I love most about Kajabi is how intuitive it is—both for me and my learners. I can upload a short video, attach a downloadable PDF, and send an automated email campaign in just a few clicks.
Even better: Kajabi has built-in AI features that help generate course outlines, landing pages, and even emails based on your course idea. It's a true all-in-one.
If you’re selling microlearning to customers or clients, Kajabi should be at the top of your list.
Tool #4: TalentCards
While Kajabi is ideal for selling to external learners, TalentCards (grab your free trial and bonus course here) is my favorite platform for training internal teams.
TalentCards is built for mobile-first microlearning. It delivers training in a swipeable, flashcard-style format that feels more like a social media app than a stuffy LMS. This is huge—especially if you want your team to actually complete the training.
With TalentCards, you can assign “card sets,” track progress, and even set up leaderboards to gamify learning. I love that it supports multimedia, so I can upload micro videos from Descript or YouTube directly into each card.
Plus, TalentCards offers an unlimited free trial for up to 5 users—making it an easy, no-risk way to get started.
Tool #5: LearnWorlds
Next up is LearnWorlds (grab your 30-day free trial and bonus course here), another excellent external microlearning platform. I recommend it if you're working with SCORM files or interactive video tools like Rise 360, Storyline, or Adobe Captivate.
LearnWorlds shines when it comes to interactive video and SCORM compliance. You can embed quizzes, call-to-actions, and checkpoints directly into your micro videos. It’s also white-label ready, with options to build your own branded app for learners to access your content on the go.
The platform’s built-in AI helps you outline your course and organize microlearning modules quickly.
Bonus Tool: TalentLMS
If you need internal microlearning and more flexibility than TalentCards offers, check out TalentLMS (grab your free trial and bonus course here). It’s another internal platform—but with more depth and customization.
TalentLMS includes its own microlearning authoring tool, TalentCraft. This lets you build interactive micro courses without needing expensive tools like Rise 360. You can also integrate SCORM, xAPI, and HTML5 content.
TalentLMS is perfect for scaling training across departments, franchises, or multiple business units. It even supports SSO and API integrations with your HR or CRM tools.
Oh, and like TalentCards—it also comes with an unlimited free trial for up to five users.
Final Thoughts
Microlearning isn’t optional anymore. Whether you’re selling courses or training your team, people want focused, bite-sized content they can consume on the go. These five tools—YouTube, Descript, Kajabi, TalentCards, and LearnWorlds (plus TalentLMS)—are how I make it all happen.
If you're just starting out, begin with YouTube and Descript. If you’re ready to scale, explore Kajabi or LearnWorlds for external audiences—or TalentCards and TalentLMS for internal training.
