Everything you need to know, and even if you're listening to this as a podcast, meaning that you're not gonna be able to see what I'm showing.
In talent [00:02:00] cards itself, we're gonna spend a lot of time figuring out diagnosing for you and your business if talent cards is the right fit. Now, back in 2024, I did an extremely in depth tutorial based review of talent cards. So if you want to actually see how to get things up and running when tele.
Cards and really see a more in-depth tutorial review. I recommend you checking out that video. I have it linked in the description and in the show notes. So when we're looking. At talent cards, really the first thing we need to do that you and I need to do business owners like you and I need to do is look at our business and [00:04:00] see where we can get more value in our business. Where can we create more profit in our business? How can we decrease expenses and or increase revenue?
Well, profit equals. Revenue minus expenses. So when we're looking at integrating anything into our business, especially a new technology, we wanna set things up. Where can the technology, can talent cards help us increase revenue and or decrease? Expenses because when we do this, we are increasing profit.
Let's use some really basic numbers here. Let's say that your business brings in $1 million per year revenue, and let's say in order to bring in, in order to make that $1 million of revenue, [00:05:00] your business, let's say. Spends $700,000. This means that when we take 1 million minus $700,000, what do we get? We get 300 k.
Of profit. Now, what if you were looking at a technology like talent cards and you were able to increase your revenue number and decrease your expense number or keep your expense number the same while increasing revenue? What if. By training, by having a system that allows you to empower your employees, your contractors, to produce more revenue and spend less money.
And because talent cards is such a high value, low cost option for you to integrate into your business by investing in talent [00:06:00] cards, you may actually decrease. Your expenses. So let's say that we were able to increase your revenue by 10%. Just 10%. That would take us to $1.1 million a year. And then let's say that we were able.
To decrease your expenses by 10%. Well, 10% would be 70,000. So we are looking at 630,000. Now what we've really done is we have increased our profit by $170,000, so our profit has gone up to 470 K. This could be possible for you. By having the proper strategy and integrating talent cards or any e-learning software that serves you and your business goals, your ROI goals into your business.
One of the biggest questions I get when business owners like [00:07:00] yourself are trying to figure out what technology is best for them. And their business is, there are so many technologies out there at so many different price points. How do I choose and why would Talent Cards or Talent Elements, or Kajabi, or Learn Worlds or a dozen other platforms be right for me in my business?
Well, the first thing that I always. Ask my clients is, are you looking to increase the internal operations of your business, the internal return on investment in your business? Which means are we focused on increasing the productivity of our employees or contractors? Now, if you're listening to this as a podcast, this.
Is really all part of the bucket of internal. So I have internal written on the board, employees and contractors as subpoints under internal. These are your internal teams. Are we focused on creating more revenue and decreasing our expenses with the operations of our internal [00:08:00] teams, or are we focused externally, meaning.
Customers? Are we focused on bringing more revenue in to our organization? Are we focused on increasing the sales of the products and services we already have? Are we focused on creating a new revenue stream that is high margin that can feed the rest of our business? Are we looking at combining those things that.
Is when we're looking at serving our customers externally. Now, when we look at choosing the right platform, the right e-learning technology, the right learning management system, the right whatever you want to call it, learning experience platform, we need to start here. With that being said, there are many platforms.
Some of my favorites actually do both of these things. They help us increase the effectiveness and the efficiency of our employees, effectiveness [00:09:00] being doing the right things. We can harness the power of education to ensure and to empower, to encourage our employees and contractors to do more of the right things.
And once we get them doing that, then we can focus on making sure that they're doing. Things, right? So they could be doing the right things, our employees could be doing, our team members could be doing the right things in our business, but not doing them in the most efficient way possible. And when this happens, we tend to have what I call profit leaks in our businesses when our employees aren't as.
Effective as they need to be. They're not doing all of the right things. They're doing some of the right things, but not all of the right things, and then they're not doing them the right way, the most efficient way. Then our expenses increase. Creating a profit. Leak. The same thing happens if we are not [00:10:00] properly training our customers, if we're not properly educating our customers so that they know that our products, our services, are the right products and services for them and their business.
Now, today, you're here to learn more about talent cards, and the sad thing about talent cards is that even though it is a powerful learning management system, it is focused 100%. On internally plugging what I call the profit leak. It doesn't do any work on the external side. That's okay, because maybe you and your organization really wanna focus.
On the internal side first, maybe you wanna focus using a platform like Talent Cards, which is about a dollar per user per month to integrate into your business, which is very low cost for an internal learning management system. And once you get talent cards set up, you might then want to start looking [00:11:00] on the external side.
And if that is the case for you and your business, I invite you to join me. For my plug, the Profit Leak Challenge, this is a multi-day live group consulting experience where I work with you and other business owners to uncover and plug the profit leaks in your business by harnessing the power of education like my enterprise learning partnership, clients that pay me multiple six figures per year to work together.
We use the exact same principles and I help you install them in your business. In my multi-day live group consulting challenge, it is linked in the show notes and in the description below I have two ticket options, my general admission and my VIP ticket. I highly recommend that you grab a VIP ticket 'cause that gets you more time with me, where I will answer your [00:12:00] specific questions and help you diagnose.
In your business where it may be leaking profit, and help you get a plan in place to plug the leak forever. I look forward to seeing you in my next challenge. Go to plug the profit leak.com to grab your ticket. Today. So when we look at talent cards, we look at serving our employees, serving our contract, and really the first thing that I wanna share with you that talent cards really knocks out of the park when it comes to serving this audience, serving your internal teams is.
The learning experience authoring itself, which means empowering you to create programs to help you plug this profit leak, learning experience, authoring. Now I'm gonna dive into talent cards and just show you a little bit what I mean here. So if you're listening to this [00:13:00] as a podcast, don't go away. This is super easy to picture in your mind when you're looking at talent cards.
Think of the name talent. Cards. Why is it called that? Talent means internal talent at your organization, teams, contractors, et cetera. Cards is the vehicle that we use in talent cards to train our team members to increase their effectiveness and their efficiency. So when we're authoring a program in talent cards, what we're really doing is we're creating a deck of cards and that deck of cards.
Is our program that our learners actually interact with. So what we're really doing is authoring a deck of cards and authoring specific cards. Each specific card is an opportunity for us as business owners to train to solve the challenges, the biggest challenges that hold our team members back from creating even more [00:14:00] value in our businesses.
So once you grab your free trial of talent. Car's length. In the description on the show notes, you're gonna go to create set. Create a card set. That's a great thing about talent cards is there's not all these bells and whistles. It's very to the point. We're gonna create decks of cards, our programs to serve our learners so they can easily flip through them, like social media posts.
So when we go to create a card set, it's gonna ask us for set details. You can add a name, add a description, and then creation method. Now in the past couple of years, this is what's really become cool with Talend cars is we have created an instant set, generate a complete set using AI or upload your own text for instant set creation.
This saves a lot of time. When we look at plugging the profit, leaks in our business time is actually more valuable than money. The more time that we can save, the more profitable our businesses can be. So by harnessing the power of AI [00:15:00] natively in talent cards, building sets of cards, which I show you step by step, how to do this, and my Talent Cards Made Simple program that you get access to with your free trial.
So go check it out. Linked in description on the show notes, creating an instance set is my favorite way to create a set. We can also create a set from scratch. If you have an idea of what you want the whole program to look like already, and you don't want the help of ai, you could do this. But seriously, just let AI help you.
The best use of AI is to help you and I get things started, create the foundation of the program. So I'll show you really quick if I have a program called. Plug the profit leak, and then it's that a description where your business is quietly losing sick figures and how to fix it. Then we go to create an instant set.
Continue with our new editor. Use the new editor. That's how we get to harness the power of ai. Here's the card set topic. We go generate, it's gonna start generating cards for us and it will generate cards [00:16:00] for you even on the free version. If you really like this feature, then I highly recommend that you upgrade to the paid version and it's only a dollar 50 per user to get the full use out of ai.
You still get some stuff with the dollar per user version, but when you upgrade to the highest version of talent cards, which is only a dollar 50 per user per month. To train your teams and really cut your program development time significantly. If you like how the AI capabilities work, I highly recommend that you do that.
So here's all the cards. We'll go continue. I'm on the free version right now. It's why I only created five cards. Now it says you want us to generate multiple choice. So right now it's only allowing us to do one 'cause we're on the free version. Once you start paying for talent cards, you get more quiz questions generated, free generate.
And with talent cards, really we're looking at short quizzes. 'cause talent cards is all about small bits of [00:17:00] information in a searchable setting for your learners to get their problem solved effectively and efficiently. So we're not talking about having a. 30 question assessment, a hundred question assessment.
We're talking about short little quizzes that test their knowledge that really reinforce and help your learners, help your team members to get more out of your program. So what is the primary purpose of analyzing financial regulating contents And plug the profit to identify profit link. There you go. I mean, increase sales, but that's part of it, right?
When we increase revenue. That is just part of the profit leak equation. Profit equals revenue minus expenses. We wanna decrease expenses, increase revenue, continue set background so AI can generate the background, generate images, and uh. It says it takes three to five minutes. It's usually done way faster, but that's it.
We've just authored a basic version of our card set of our deck of cards. That is our learning experience for our learners. So I like [00:18:00] to author multiple card sets and then use something that talent cards, calls, sequences, and sequences is really simple. We can take multiple card sets and we can drop them inside of one another.
So let's refresh, see if our card set is ready. And where is it? Yeah, here it is. I can set it as active and then I can pull or drag this card set over this other group of card sets that I've already created, which is this sequence. I could also just drag it. So I can take this card set and drag it over another card set, and I can create a sequence or a folder.
A folder has a bunch of standalone card sets just organized together. A sequence creates a learning path for your learners to go through different card sets in a specific order so you can have foundation. Programs all the way up to advanced programs and [00:19:00] they need to progress along the way. Really easy way to do this, I'll just call this test.
So now if I go to this sequence that we pulled or plug the profit leak card set into, you see there's like seven card sets. They're all in a specific order. All we do is drag them around to put. Them in the right order for our learners. And then in order to edit the details, we can edit the name of the sequence, apply sequence rules, and then here are all the different settings for the sequence that you can set.
For your learners, different ways to customize how your team members interact with each sequence and each card set. This is one of the most powerful parts of talent cards because it's simple for you and I as business owners to do ourselves. Or you can even pass this on to a VA or another team member to integrate this [00:20:00] without being an L and D professional.
You don't need to know a bunch about learning and development. In order to create powerful programs to plug the profit leak in your business. The second thing that you and I need to make sure that we look at when we're integrating talent cards, talent talents, or any platform into our business is reports and KPIs or key performance indicators and what we really need to do.
Is align. These things we need to make sure that our KPIs are supported. By reports. There needs to be some sort of analytics built into the software that we're able to look at and tell if what we've integrated into our business is working or not. There's really four things we wanna look at. The first is, here they [00:21:00] are.
Now, before we get into this. What is a KPI? KPI is a key performance indicator. A KPI is something that you and I as a business owner can track to see if what we've integrated into our business is actually plugging the profit leak. This could be increasing sales if we increase sales. We increase revenue.
Remember, profit equals revenue minus expenses. So maybe we have a goal, A KPI of increasing our sales with our current team. So without hiring anyone else, we wanna increase our sales, we wanna increase our revenue. What this does is this keeps expenses generally the same, but increases revenue. This is a good KPI to look for when integrating a program.
Now the other thing we could look at is what if our marketing team. Is able to produce the same amount of revenue, but by spending less money, maybe spending less money on ads, spending less [00:22:00] money on press releases, et cetera, that would be decreasing expenses. So maybe we wanna do both. Maybe we want a program integrated to increase our sales conversion rates to increase revenue, and we want a program to help and empower our teams to spend less money to create that revenue.
This. Will help us create profits significantly. So once we set these KPIs, we wanna look to see what the reports in our system, and I'll show you where to find this in talent cards. But really what we're looking at is these four things. There's four things that could be happening. KPI increase. This is great.
We've got more revenue now and or less expenses. Profits going up, plus LE is written on the board here. Le means learning. Experience or education program, training program. This is the vehicle we're using to increase [00:23:00] these KPIs, increase our profit. So KPIs increase or improve and we see engagement. So when we look in our technology analytics, we see that people, our learners, our team members are engaging in the program.
They're actually using it. This is great. This is a positive outcome. This is awesome. We're winning. You're spending a dollar to a dollar 50 per user per month. KPIs are going up. This is awesome. This is what we want. Now we have three other situations. What if KPIs improve? This is awesome. So our profits still going up.
Revenue's increasing expenses are decreasing, and when we look in the system, so we go to our reports and talent cards or whatever system we're using, and we see there's no learning experience, engagement or very little, there's nothing going on here. Well, I still think this is positive. The thing is, you and I [00:24:00] now.
Needs to diagnose what happened? Is this something that we've seen before? Is this something where just over time our employees become more effective and efficient at their jobs? Well, if that's the case, and we spent this money on this software, even though talent cards isn't very expensive, but you could look at this in anything in your business.
If you're spending money on something and it's not the direct cause for the KPI improvement, the profit improvement, then we need to figure out what the cause is. And if the cause is something else, then we should probably stop investing in the thing that we thought was gonna help. What's really interesting here is when you put it into your company that you're going to plug the profit leak and that you're gonna use education to do so.
The platform itself that is. Delivering the education may do some of the heavy lifting, and just the fact that you've put this into your culture, you've made this an intention in your culture. People may just get excited [00:25:00] about increasing profit. In general and figuring out the most efficient way to do it.
Maybe they start learning from each other, so this is still very good. We just gotta figure out what is actually improving these KPIs. We get to the less fortunate situations, even though one of these next two situations is actually still good data for you and I. What if our KPIs are staying the same or decreasing?
That would really stink if KPIs are decreasing and. We're getting learning, experience, engagement. Uh, this is dad. I mean, this is a negative. This means that the program we've created is actually hurting them. Well, why could this be? Well, maybe your team members are spending more time on the platform instead of doing their job.
Maybe they're using it as an excuse to not do their jobs. We also wanna make sure though, when we're looking at these reports and looking at our KPIs and how it is affecting our profit equation here, we wanna make sure that we give it some [00:26:00] breathing room. 'cause yeah, if everyone is not used to engaging with education programs in your business, then all of a sudden you launch everything and the first month everyone's in there and their numbers may drop a little bit.
A little bit, but maybe the next month they shoot up because I learned all this stuff. So we want to really look at the data, but give it some breathing room. Give it a little bit of time to see if this is just a one-off thing, or if this is something we need to dig deeper into. Now, I don't wanna go too far with this.
I'm not saying wait 3, 4, 5 months. Maybe wait a month or two and see how it goes. Look in your reports for a month or two. Now, the last one here, KPIs stay the same or decrease and there's no learning experience engagement. No one's in talent cards doing anything. No one's in talent tele us doing anything.
Well, I look at this. As neutral. We don't know yet if talent cards is working. We don't know if your education programs are working. What we need to do [00:27:00] now is figure out how to incentivize what is the ROI that our team members are looking for. What is their ROI? What do they care about? And we need to talk to them.
We need to share with them how what they're trying to get is aligned with what the business's ROI is. I teach what I call ROI pie in my plug the profit leak. Challenge. I highly recommend that you join me for the next challenge where we find the common denominator of all of the major stakeholders in your business, which is really the center of the three pies of ROI for your business and other stakeholders that rely on what you are doing.
When you align the ROI for everyone, everyone wins. We create what we call a win. When, when, so let's look in the talent cards. Where do we go to look at these reports? Well, there's really two places you can go to analytics, [00:28:00] and here you can look at analytics as a whole. You can scroll through here and you can go to infographic.
Infographic is just a fun visual representation. Of what's going on in talent cards. They even come up with engagement Numbers come up with how much time you're saving. How much money you're saving and how many better skilled people you have in your business. Now, these are the main two places. You can also go to users.
I mean, you can do this from analytics too, but you can go to users and go a user to user basis. So you have a small company. You really wanna look at how individual people are performing or if you have a larger company and. You have team members that are managing teams and they wanna look at how their individual team members are performing, go to users, and you can pull up the analytics related to each user.
So really we got analytics, infographic, and users. You can find all the reports and data that you need to [00:29:00] create this connection between what's going on in the platform and the KPIs that you and I set to improve the profit of our businesses. Number three. Gamification. Now, this has been talked about so much.
I've talked about this a lot. This is all over the internet, all over ai, all this stuff. When we talking about talent cards or any system really, why do we even care about gamification? Well, we come back to the profit equation. Profit equals revenue minus expenses. Well, if we can harness gamification to reinforce.
Training to keep our learners, keep our employees, keep our contractors continuing to come back and take more training. That's really the goal. Boom. That's it. Drive reinforcement, keep them coming back. And really, we care about this when we get our KPIs set right, when we get our KPIs, and we know what we're looking for in the reports.
Well, if the program's actually working, if what you're [00:30:00] working on here is actually working, then we want them to keep coming back. We want our learners to keep coming back. We want them to continue to bring in more revenue to spend less money. Decrease our expenses and increase our profit. So this is why we want to use gamification in the first place.
You don't use gamification just because it's fun. You want it to be fun so that your employees, your team members, actually care about learning what you are sharing with them. They actually care about being more effective and more efficient at what they're doing. So when we look at talent cards, there is very basic gamification pieces and really it's just about cards are worth points, card sets are worth points, sequences are worth points.
The more. Points that someone earns, the higher they show up on the leaderboard. And really what you and I need to do as the business owner, is we need to create some sort of stakes for people to actually want to show up on the leaderboard. We want people to wanna complete more cards, more cards. That's more sequences.
So what I like to do. Is, well first [00:31:00] of all, I'll just show you gamification. So we go over into settings, down to gamification, and here you go. And we have points. You can have badges, you can have challenges once you're paying for talent cards, but whatever it is, it's the same theory. The theory is you get points for completing things, you get points for passing quizzes.
You get points for engaging in the platform, and the more points you get, the higher you show up on the leaderboard. When your learners open up the app, they're gonna see a leaderboard. And you can set it to be a seasonal, and you can set it to be seasonal. So what I consult my clients on is when you're looking at the leaderboard, there needs to be a prize or something that people are working towards, something that your employees, your contractors, are working towards for gaining all these points, for completing all these cards, sets, all these cards, all these sequences, quizzes, we need to reward them in some way.
Maybe that means PTO, more vacation time. Maybe that means paying for a vacation, paying for a flight, paying for a hotel. Maybe that means giving them a bonus, find out what they want. Maybe ask the top three [00:32:00] performers what they want and see what you can do to serve them there, especially if these things are happening.
And then really, you can go in here and you can change how points are located and stuff. You can do it for everything here in the gamification section. You can also, if you think some card sets are more important than others. You can go into the specific card set and we can go. To our set details, and this is where we can set the individual gamification, which is basically, do we want this card set to be worth more points?
So we want cards in this card set to be worth more points so you can make harder card sets, harder decks of cards, harder programs worth more points than reward your people even more. This is the power of gamification and talent cards, but really in. Any program that you are integrating internally to really motivate your employees to get more effective and efficient at their jobs so you can drive the profit equation.
Up [00:33:00] number four QR codes for quick answers on processes and products. I don't know about you, but when I have a question about something now, especially if I can take a picture of it, I take a picture of it and I upload it to my favorite generative ai and I say, tell me how to do this. Tell me what this is.
What do I need to do here? What does this look like, et cetera. Similar thing. But remember, AI doesn't know all your processes and products, so what can we do? We can set up training, we can set up our card sets to answer these types of questions, and then our learners, our employees, our contractors, can take their phone out, scan the QR code and get the answer.
At their fingertips. This is extremely important for efficiency. We don't want our employees to not be doing the right things all day because someone can't answer their questions. We don't want them bugging other people, trying to get their questions answered. If we can answer their question, which is the quick scan, we have saved so much money.
We've empowered that employee to get their question answered themselves just by scanning it with [00:34:00] their phone. So how do we set this up in talent cards? Well, we go under card sets. And we can go and do a card set, go to edit content and. Let's see. Where is our QR code? Here it is. Right next to published over here.
Click on QR code. Boom. Here it is. So we just need to print out this QR code and put it wherever we want at our workplace. I have clients that do this, that have big manufacturing facilities, but QR codes next to all the equipment, next to all the processes so that you can easily scan it. The training pops up.
Boom. You know exactly what to do, know the most effective way to do it, doing the right thing, and we know the most efficient way to do it. Doing things right. QR codes and talent cards have been doing this for a long time. It is still one of the most powerful things that you can use to increase profit at your organization.
And lastly, number five, third. Party [00:35:00] integrations. Maybe you really like what you're hearing about talent cards and you're super excited to integrate this into your business, but you're thinking to yourself, Johnny, what about this external side of things? I know that talent cards is great for serving my employees, serving my contractors.
I can see it and it's affordable. A dollar per user or a dollar 50 per user per month to get all the bells and whistles. It's amazing. But what if I also want to solve this external part of the equation to educate my customers more so they buy more products from me. Maybe sell education as a product so I can create a new revenue stream for my business.
Well, this is where third party integrations really shines, and there's multiple ways that you can do this with talent cards. The first is the talent cards. API. You can integrate with other platforms and softwares directly. You can also use Zapier. There are Zapier templates already built out to integrate talent cards into other platforms.
You can even connect [00:36:00] talent cards to other. Software is directly like talent, LMS, like E Front. Now Talent, LMS is also primarily an internal learning management system, but it does have external learning management system capabilities where you can sell courses, where you can sell programs, so your customers, where you can create portals for your customers to come in and learn from you to get answers to the questions they have about your product and services.
So what you could do is. Integrate talent cards with something like Talent LMS or pull the API to A Zape your connection to integrate into your software stack at your business. Now, I really appreciate you spending this time with me today, so I wanna remind you that. In the show notes end in Descrip below, you can grab your free trial of talent cards.
