PODCAST - how to get the most roi from kajabi in 2027
===
[00:00:00] Learning Transformed is brought to you by eLearning Partners, your guide to designing transformational learning experiences in the age of AI For millennia, human intelligence was the highest form of intelligence on Earth, until now. Hi, I'm AI. I can process more information in seconds than any human in a lifetime.
This shift raises not only practical questions about the future of learning, but existential ones about the meaning of human life, growth, and evolution
On this podcast hosted by me, Johnny Havey, we navigate these questions with clarity, creativity, and confidence. As the most adaptable species on the planet, we can not only survive the rise of [00:01:00] artificial intelligence but create better human-centered AI-powered learning experiences that elevate humanity to a new era of abundance, transformation, and meaning
AI is rising and so are we
Now let's dive in
Today on the show, I wanna share with you how my clients are getting the most return on investment in Kajabi, and how they're leveraging Kajabi to make millions of dollars in their businesses. I also run my business, eLearning Partners, using Kajabi, and over the years, I have transitioned away from numerous other softwares and technologies, and only use Kajabi to run the front end and the back end of my business.
It is a [00:02:00] comprehensive business management system that me and my team have been leveraging to get a large return on investment, and in addition to empowering our clients and customers to make millions of dollars a year. So when I look at Kajabi, I see a external-facing learning management system first.
With that being said, though, it also can be leveraged internally. Now, before I dive in, I show you the specific features that me and my clients are leveraging, and how we are leveraging them to really drive our businesses forward and to create the biggest impact in the world, I wanna go through a couple definitions for you.
When we look at external, we are talking about systems that focus on serving our customers. That is what Kajabi primarily is, and if you are looking for a software to support you and your business and your customers, Kajabi is the right way to go. In addition, [00:03:00] you can use Kajabi to support you internally, to support your employees.
And really, when I break this down, what I'm really talking about is leveraging Kajabi and the tools within Kajabi to increase adoption, so this would be product adoption, so on our customer side here. And along with product adoption, yeah, we can increase customer acquisition. This is what my S&P 500 company clients do.
And we can also actually leverage Kajabi to increase our customer retention Now you may be here because you're also interested in leveraging Kajabi, or you've already started leveraging it, to increase your revenue streams, adding more revenue [00:04:00] or income to your business with a new product line or a service line.
So this would be creating some sort of education program or digital product or service that you can sell using Kajabi. But what I found is the most powerful way to use Kajabi is to combine all three of these things. A lot of times, I see companies go into investing in a software, and there's really one reason why.
And in this case, people look at Kajabi and they're like, "Hey, I wanna create a product line, a digital product, an online course, an e-learning program, a coaching program, a consulting program," whatever it is, "and leverage Kajabi to sell that for me." And Kajabi does a great job at this. But my most successful clients, and what I've been doing in my business, is not only leveraging Kajabi to create a new product line or a new income stream, [00:05:00] but also to increase product adoption, customer acquisition on my current services, on my high-ticket services, and actually on the reselling of products like Kajabi.
I resell Kajabi, and if you wanna check out Kajabi, I not only am able to offer you an extended free trial, a 30-day free trial, but I'm also able to, once you use my affiliate link linked in the description and in the show notes if you're watching this as a podcast, I'm also gonna give you access to my Kajabi Made Simple program.
This program is gonna teach you A to Z how to get everything set up in Kajabi so that you can start serving your customers powerfully, and maybe even your employees, within that 30-day trial. This is a great example of increasing product adoption. You can create programs in Kajabi that teach, that empower your customers to get the most value out of your products and services.
This is what my client [00:06:00] CoStar has been doing for a decade. By educating and empowering their customers to get the most value out of their core product and services, which is software in their case, what happens? Customers buy more, they stay more customer retention, and they become customers for life.
They also sell a certification program, which ends up being that extra income stream. So they are the perfect example of the way to leverage Kajabi to drive millions of dollars of revenue per year in their business. And you can also leverage Kajabi to train your employees. Now, there are other softwares that are specifically built to empower your teams, to make your teams more efficient and effective, but Kajabi can be used for this as well.
I use this at my company, and I have more than 30 clients leveraging Kajabi externally and also figuring out how they can multiply their ROI by leveraging it internally. When we leverage Kajabi internally, what we're [00:07:00] really doing is looking at how we can leverage Kajabi to improve the effectiveness of our team members.
Effectiveness being doing the right things, building programs that empower our team members to do the right things in their job, in their position. Well, once we get our team members doing the right things, we also want to increase their efficiency at those things, which is really doing things right. When we have our team members doing the right things and doing things right, we're able to multiply the ROI that we get.
'Cause what this really results in is increasing employee retention. And at the very end of the day, both of these things, when we're able to use a software like Kajabi [00:08:00] to increase our sales, to increase customer retention, and to create a new revenue stream, what we're doing is we're increasing revenue overall, and we may even be decreasing expenses.
When we leverage Kajabi internally to make our teams more effective, efficient, and ultimately retain them longer, we are also increasing revenue, and we're decreasing our expenses. It costs so much money to replace an employee. We lose so much money when we lose an employee that has all of this knowledge, all of this wisdom to serve our customers.
So when we're increasing revenue and decreasing expenses, we're ultimately increasing profit, and we're doing it twofold. We're not just attacking one side of the equation. We are multiplying our ROI, our return on investment, just by investing in one software. Now, I've been in education for more than a decade, and what I've realized is that what we really need to do [00:09:00] is we need to align the ROI of our businesses.
That's what this circle right here represents. This is you. If you're listening to this as a podcast, I just drew a circle on the board. Well, we're gonna take this circle, which represents your ROI, and we want to align this with the ROI of your customers. We wanna figure out what they're looking for. What do your customers actually want, and how are you able to get them what they want?
Well, we also wanna look at the ROI of our buyers. Now, I look at buyers and customers as different. And what you could really say is that buyers are your purchasers and your customers are your users, the end user of your product or service. The last circle that we wanna draw here represents- our employees, our team members.
They're looking for a [00:10:00] specific ROI too to even work for your organization. Well, when you do this properly, what you're gonna see is that there's an overlap where all four of these circles find alignment, and this is what I call ROI pie. When we align the ROI of these groups, which are the most important groups that make up your business, and we find the slice that you need to focus on, this is how we multiply ROI, and this is exactly what I work with business owners and S&P 500 company leaders in my Plug the Profit Leak Challenge.
This is a multi-day live group consulting and advisory experience where we dive deep into your business and unlock its profit potential. A lot of times I have very profitable businesses that join me in this challenge, and even so, they are able to find six figures or more in their business just within two days of the challenge.
One of my clients, Darren, said within two hours He was [00:11:00] able to find $100,000 of profit in his business without having to increase his leads, bring any more customers in, any of that. He found $100,000 in his business. And if you wanna join me at my next Plug the Profit Leak challenge, I invite you to buy a ticket at plugtheprofitleak.com or click on the link in the show notes or the YouTube description.
Now, you're gonna have the option to buy a GA ticket or a VIP ticket, and while it is extremely important for you to just be in the room, I highly recommend that you at least consider investing in a VIP ticket. A VIP ticket gives you double the amount of time, and you get to ask specific questions to me and get my eyes inside of your business.
You also get to learn from others and their questions, and a lot of times you may get more value out of listening to me answer other people's questions and consult other people and their businesses than asking your own questions. You may also figure out that [00:12:00] you can't think of any questions, and that's why there's other powerful business owners and enterprise leaders in the room, so we can work together, learn from each other, and uncover six figures or more of profit in your business.
So now let's dive into Kajabi. If you're listening to this as a podcast, I invite you to stick around and follow along, because I am sharing the theory along with showing how to execute this inside of Kajabi. And if you wanna see the video part of this, you can always join me at eLearning Partners on YouTube.
I'll also link to the video in the show notes. And if you want step-by-step help on how to set everything up in Kajabi, I invite you to grab your 30-day free trial, and then you'll also get access to my Kajabi Made Simple program, which clients have shared with me has been one of the most valuable programs they've ever been in, and it has really empowered them to get everything ready even before they have to start paying for Kajabi.
So when we get inside Kajabi, you'll see that there are a lot of [00:13:00] options, and Kajabi is really a business management system, an online business management system, but you can also sell products and services, all of these things. So when we look at this, you look on the sidebar on the left, and you're gonna see products, sales, website, marketing, contacts, analytics, and then a bunch of new stuff.
A bunch of stuff that changes. They add, take away all these things. Well, the main things that me and my clients have leveraged for years are products, sales website and marketing. The contacts piece is gonna be your CRM. This is where you can throw that other CRM software out the window and use Kajabi as your CRM, keeping track of your customer's journey.
It's pretty powerful. It keeps track of all the contacts you have, all the contacts that join your system through purchases, through lead magnets, or you can just add [00:14:00] contacts right here with a CSV or just single contacts. But this is an amazing place to just keep track of everyone. And when you open up one of the contacts, you're gonna see when they subscribed and their whole journey.
So this contact joined today, and we open up full profile, we're gonna see lifecycle, about four hours. We'll see everything that they've been sent, 'cause I subscribe people to various email sequences that I set up in the marketing area. When someone takes me up on a lead magnet like my Kajabi Made Simple program, where when you take me up on that 30-day free trial, and then when you get access to your Kajabi Made Simple program, you will be added to the system, and I'm gonna send you various emails that are sequenced out that I created in the marketing area.
So contacts is huge. You'll spend a lot of time here just building your audience, building your [00:15:00] customer base. Then you look at marketing. This is really where you can create funnels. And the great thing about Kajabi is they have pre-built funnels. You don't even have to know anything about building a sales funnel.
And you can go to funnels, click get started, and it's gonna give you a bunch of options, which is really cool. I've always built my funnels from scratch, so I don't use this, but I am so grateful that this is an option for my clients, for my customers, because it really empowers you to get things done faster.
You don't have to even know how to do this 'cause it walks you through it. Now, I spend a lot of time in email campaigns. And under email campaigns, you're gonna see that if we click on new email campaign, you can either send an email broadcast, which is a one-off email that you can just send to your entire list or a segment of your list based on the settings that you choose within Kajabi.
You're able to contact everyone. Maybe you have a new offer. Maybe you want to tell people about a new [00:16:00] free program that helps them get more out of your main product or service. You can shoot off a one-time email here. You can also duplicate the emails and make edits in the future. Now, the other piece is we have email sequences.
Email sequences is typically a sequence of emails that is sent based on a trigger of some sort. When you sign up for my Kajabi Made Simple program, that is the trigger to put you into the email sequence that onboards you into the program. I also am going to put you into a sequence to share with you other offers I have to see if you wanna continue working together.
That is how we use email sequences. Before you even get to any of that, what my clients typically start with is the website tab. 'Cause the great thing about Kajabi is you can use Kajabi as a website builder. What's really interesting is You may find that you already have a website for your business.
That's [00:17:00] fine. When I first started using Kajabi, I also had a website for my business. Back in 2018, 2019, I had a website just selling my consulting and my e-learning content creation services, and I eventually started creating programs like my Kajabi Made Simple program and other digital educational programs.
What I liked about Kajabi is if I wanted to, I could keep Kajabi separate completely from my website. So option one is you can use Kajabi as your university Or e-learning. At CoStar, that's what we call it. We call it our e-learning platform. CoStar has its own main website, and what we do is we leverage Kajabi as the education website, the e-learning website.
This is one option, and some of my [00:18:00] clients go with this. Other clients decide that, hey, you know what? I've never really put that much focus in my website, or I have, but I'm not happy with it, and I want it all in one place. I don't need multiple websites. I have a pretty simple business, and I wanna bring it all together.
Well, in that case, you can have Kajabi be your main website. That's what I did. I decided that even though I had my website on WordPress, I ultimately wanted to transition to just using Kajabi for my website. Either way works, though. CoStar
S&P 500, they use Kajabi as their education platform as a university. eLearning Partners, not S&P 500, but very successful small business. I use it for my main website. I also do this for my other company, Athlete With Asthma. Either way, when you go to a website, the design is the same. You just gotta look at it differently.
If you're leveraging Kajabi to be your main website, then what you're gonna do is you're gonna create a website [00:19:00] like I have here, where I'm showcasing my entire business. Not just my digital products, but also my high-ticket consulting programs. That's how I built it out. You go to my website, it is the website for my entire business.
It has all my consulting programs, talks about all my clients. It even, when you grab a ticket for my Plug the Profit Leak Challenge, here it is. And this is all built out inside Kajabi, so that is really cool and advantageous to have everything in one place. Then I actually have my free resources here, so you wanna go to my website, elearningpartners.com.
You can actually see what the best platform is for you. Maybe it's Kajabi, maybe it's something else. I have a free tool that will match you with that platform and give you access to the applicable free trial and program to get you up and running. Also, if you wanna select into one of my programs, you can select in here.
Now, when we look at Podcast, it hosts my podcast. It [00:20:00] syndicates it across all the platforms that, all the major platforms, Apple, Spotify, you name it. I also have my blog in Kajabi. This is why I love Kajabi for a comprehensive website. Now, when we look at CoStar Group, what we've done is we've pick and chosen what pieces of the website we want and which ones we don't want.
Well, right now we're not running a podcast using Kajabi, so we don't have that here. We're also not using Kajabi for a blog, so we don't have that here. As you see, what we've done is we've used a subdomain, eLearning.coStar.com. For my website, it's eLearningPartners.com, no subdomain. So that is an option. You can set up Kajabi with a subdomain, which basically lives on your main domain.
I recommend having education, eLearning, university, whatever it is .yourwebsitedomain.com. Pretty easy to set that up. This is how it is. It's just all of our certification programs, all of our [00:21:00] training programs that we offer at CoStar Group. That is how the website is built. Go to Certifications. This has everything that, and how to purchase it if you're a professor, a professional, and even some of these programs also offer for students.
This is the great thing about Kajabi. Now, when you actually create your website, you can get the details in my Kajabi Made Simple program. You can browse templates, upload a template. You can buy a template. There's a lot of free templates that come with Kajabi, and you just select one and then you edit it.
And when you edit it, you're gonna see that you have website pages and landing pages. Website pages all have the same settings, the same design settings. They're also all gonna automatically have a top nav bar. Landing pages do not have the same design settings. This is where you can create pages that don't have a nav bar and that have their own design.
Why would you do one or the other? Well, it's simple. If you want something [00:22:00] to follow the same settings of so- everything else, then you wanna choose Website. If not, and maybe for sales pages when you're looking at not having a bunch of clickable links, and you just want one call to action on the page that brings them to an application or to actually purchasing on a checkout page, which I, which I'll show you next, then you probably wanna do a landing page.
You can adjust the navigation, so the top nav bar on your website right here. And then if you want a blog, you can do all of that here. So once you have your website set up, you wanna really consider your point of sale system. This is one of the great things about Kajabi, is your POS or your point of sale system is already built in, which is awesome.
The only thing you really have to do is connect your payment gateway. So this could be Stripe, PayPal, or actually Kajabi has their own payment [00:23:00] system too. You can just use Kajabi payments. And depending on when you're watching this, there's probably additional payment gateways that you can connect. But the point here is when you get your point of sale system set up, you're gonna be working in the sales tab.
You're gonna see payments, pricing, payouts, card, invoices, a bunch of things. The most important thing here that my clients and I really focus on when it comes to setting up the POS system is setting it up so that you and I can serve B to C and B to B. Now, what is B to C and B to B? Well, B to C is business, that's what the B stands for, to consumer.
Another way to look at this is B to C is you, the business, that's one entity, [00:24:00] serving or selling to One customer, one consumer. Now, you may be saying, "Johnny, this is the only thing I do, is I serve one-to-one. I serve business to consumer. I sell a product or service, and my customer buys it from me, and they implement it into their life."
Great. Kajabi is set up to sell this way. Well, the other thing, and this is one thing that I consult my clients with, is how can we also set up your business to be B2B, which is business to business? This is where your organization is not just selling your product or service to an individual, to a consumer.
You're selling your product or service to a business. And yes, you could be selling to a solopreneur or a single business, but really, the focus that I have all of my clients look into is how do we sell [00:25:00] one, being you, being me, to many? This is how we exponentially increase our income, still by getting one sale.
What we're basically doing is saying that one sale is going to drive income for serving many people, versus one sale is driving income by only serving one person. Well, in order to do this, you need a system that can support this, and this is what Kajabi has done. So if you go into Sales, and then what we wanna do first is we go into Pricing.
Now, depending on when you're watching this, this may be called something else, but really what we're doing is we're building offers, and we wanna build offers that are both B2C, one to one, and B2B, one to many. Once you get into the pricing and offer creation area, let's take this offer which I just created, my Sustainable Growth Consulting Intensive.
[00:26:00] And what we can do is you're gonna name it and add a graphic and choose what products are included in the offer. I'll go over products next 'cause that's really cool, is we can literally bundle things that we've created in Kajabi and add an offer to them. Now, you don't have to have products bundled in offers, though.
You can sell an offer and then set up an automated email sequence that says, "Hey, you just bought my high-ticket consulting or coaching program or software," or whatever it is, "and here is how you get access to it. This is what happens next." So you don't actually have to have a product created to create an offer.
Then we go to Pricing, and this is where you can choose one-time payment, payment plans, subscription, free, all these things. Set a price, and then You can also enable a quantity selector. What this empowers you to do is have [00:27:00] an organization come to you, just like what we've done here with CoStar Group. I can go to I am a professor for this CHIA certification, and I can say, "I'm gonna purchase for my class."
And then I'm going to say, "Yeah, I want the online training program and exam." And then I can say how many I want. What we have happen is we'll have Cornell come in here and buy 140 licenses, and this is how we do it. We just add it, or we can even write it in here, 140. Boom, purchase all done within Kajabi.
You can also have someone come in here and buy one license. That is the power of serving both B2C and B2B. B2B empowers you to sell more in one transaction. The other thing you can do inside Kajabi is we can go and invoice directly, do like a custom invoice. Maybe you have an organization like CoStar will have Marriott come in and say, "Hey, I want [00:28:00] X amount of licenses of this program and this program.
Can you build me an invoice and maybe give me a little bit of a bulk discount?" Great. You go into Invoices, and this is where, once you have invoices set up, you can go New Invoice and come up with the custom offer, and then shoot it out. You can also just use this for any other invoicing that you're doing.
You can also go and create a coupon code. You can create a coupon code for a specific offer, and then apply it to the bulk purchasing, have your client go and purchase bulk, input the coupon code, and there you go. You wanna make it as easy as possible for your consumers, your customers, to buy one of what you sell, and for businesses and organizations to buy as many licenses or as many copies or as many items as possible in a transaction.
This is where Kajabi shines. You can also use the Kajabi cart feature, which basically follows your customers around. They [00:29:00] can add different things to their cart, they choose the amounts of the things that they can add to their cart, and then check out all at once. This is cool. I haven't set this up yet, mainly 'cause I'm selling high ticket, so I'm selling products that cost $250,000 plus a revenue share, $115,000, even $30,000.
And then, you know, I have my Plug the Profit Leak Challenge, which you can get in for a fraction of that cost. But in general, I just haven't seen the need for my business to have a cart yet. We are starting to look at integrating this into some of our clients', though, to really increase the user experience for our clients' customers.
So the last piece here is products. Now, like I said, and this is why I waited to do products last, is you can sell any kind of product using Kajabi. All you have to do is build that offer under the Pricing tab or Offers tab or whatever they call it when you're watching this. And then if you built products [00:30:00] within Kajabi, you can bundle them there and add them to the offer.
But if you have products that aren't built in Kajabi, you can still create that offer, put a price on it, and then you just have to deliver it to your customer yourself. Well, Products is where we can create courses We can create a coaching product. Really, my clients typically use the courses and the community products.
Courses are where you're really gonna do exactly what it is. We're gonna go in here and create a on-demand course. And then what we wanna do is create a community where people in the course can interact with one another. And this is what I use to run my Plug The Profit Leak Challenge. It's also what I use to run my group consulting programs, or I've just started to go that route.
Because what this does is it just creates an area for you to coach, to consult, to interact with your customers. This is what you could do, is create a community for [00:31:00] your physical products, for your software products, for your services, so people can go in there, interact with one another, and ask you questions.
This could be a really support and add on, a way for you to educate your customers, to make sure that they're getting the return on investment that they're looking for. You can also build your podcast here. I have my podcast in Kajabi. And you can even set up a paid newsletter and even have other downloads here.
The point is, once you build a product, you have the option to go into sales, go into pricing or offers, and package your products together. But you don't have to have all your products in Kajabi. You can do what I do with my group consulting programs, where some of the products are in Kajabi, some of the other products, which is me jumping on a video call, are outside of Kajabi.
You can also run your video calls through Kajabi if you want. That's what some of my clients like CoStar Group does. Now, there's a bunch of other stuff that you can do in Kajabi. You can go to agents and set up [00:32:00] some agents for a little higher rate every month. This is one of the great AI capabilities.
You can go to Backstage, which I'm starting to mess with a little bit. I haven't moved any of my clients here yet, because yet again, you have to pay per seat, per client that you integrate into Backstage. These are newer pieces, and for me, I love leveraging soft, especially when it makes my life easier. It decreases the amount of time that I have to put in, and it decreases the amount of money I have to pay.
What I like to do sometimes is let Kajabi work the kinks out, figure out what they're doing with the offering, and then I'll start using it. That's kind of what I did with Amma. Amma was the old Kajabi integrated generative AI bot, and it was pretty bad. Well, now you have Co-founder, where what you can do is click on the Co-founder tab.
It pops up wherever you are in Kajabi, and this is where you can really ask your specific Kajabi questions, and it does [00:33:00] an extremely good job of giving you help. I love Co-founder, and I use it whenever I find something Kajabi that I don't know about. You can see that I was actually asking Co-founder how to connect ChatGPT to Kajabi.
So there's a lot of different things you can do with Kajabi, and really my goal for today was to just share with you how my clients and I are using it. You don't have to use everything, and you can get a lot of value out of Kajabi just using one or two things here and there. The best strategy that I help my clients with is let's start with like the major thing and leverage Kajabi to achieve that thing in order to get ROI for your business.
And then over time, we can add more things that Kajabi can support you. That's what I've done in my business. I'm always adapting and trying to move more and more stuff into Kajabi, and that's really... It's been a five-plus year journey for me doing that. It's the same thing with my clients. We start with one program, with supporting one product or service, and then [00:34:00] we keep building it out.
Once we get everything built out externally to serve your customers, then you can start looking at how can we leverage Kajabi to train our employees as well. The goal is to focus on what's gonna get the biggest result right out of the gate. Get that result. Use that momentum to get even more results.
Now, if you wanna join me for my next Plug The Profit Leak Challenge so we can work together, maybe you even have questions about Kajabi, bring them to the challenge. If you buy a VIP ticket, we'll be able to dive in and look at your specific questions about Kajabi. I look forward to working with you and serving you there.

AI is rising and so are we
