Why You Need To Be In A Peak State Every Day (And Exactly How To Get There)

Every breakthrough I have ever created in my business, my eLearning work, or my athletic life has come from one place. It came from a shift in how I felt and how I showed up. What I learned over years of training, running ultra marathons, and building learning businesses is that success is never just about strategy. It is about state. It is about energy. It is about the internal alignment that makes the external results possible.

I call this alignment peak state, and it has become the most important performance tool in my life. When I operate from peak state, I think more clearly, solve problems faster, and show up more powerfully for the people I serve. When I fall out of peak state, everything feels slower and heavier, even when I am doing the exact same tasks. The difference is not the work itself. The difference is who I am when I do the work.

Peak state is not an abstract idea. It is something you can intentionally create every single day. It is a practice you can refine. It is a lever you can pull to elevate your business, your health, and your impact on the world. In this post (and in the YouTube video linked here and podcast episode linked here), I want to walk you through what peak state truly is, why it matters for your life and business, and how you can start building your own repeatable routine to reach it.

Understanding the Concept of Peak State

Before I started studying performance psychology and before I became an ultra runner, I used to think peak state was something reserved for professional athletes. The kind of thing you see during the final seconds of a championship game or in the last mile of an Olympic marathon. What I discovered later is that peak state is not exclusive to athletes at all. It is a universal experience accessible to anyone who learns to create it.

Peak state is a physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual alignment. It is the moment when all systems inside you are working in harmony. You feel energized yet grounded. Focused yet expansive. Calm yet powerful. You are fully present in whatever you are doing, and because of that presence, you are more capable than you are at any other time.

In peak state, creativity flows. Decisions come naturally. Hard tasks become easier. Doubt quiets. Fear loses its grip. You operate from a place that is closer to your best self. This is why athletes describe peak state as being in the zone. Time stretches. Distractions disappear. You become absorbed in the work, and the work feels meaningful and effortless.

That quality of presence is not random. It is not accidental. It can be trained. It can be repeated. It can be woven into your daily life the same way you might build discipline around exercise or eating well. Peak state is a skill. The more you practice it, the easier it becomes to access.

My Journey to Discovering Peak State

My journey with peak state started long before I had a name for it. I grew up with asthma, and doctors told me I would never be a runner. They told me I should avoid physical exertion and limit myself to what they believed was safe. For most of my childhood, I believed them. I lived inside the limitations someone else placed on me.

As I grew older, I started to test those limits. I began running. First casually. Then consistently. Eventually, those small steps turned into marathons. Those marathons turned into ultra marathons. Today, I regularly run 30, 40, 50, 60 miles or more in one go. What changed was not some miraculous improvement in my lungs. What changed was my internal state.

I learned that when my mind, body, emotions, and spirit aligned, I could do things that the old version of me would have considered impossible. I learned that fear and pain feel different when you face them in peak state rather than neutral or low energy. I learned that flow is real and that it can last hours if you train yourself to enter it.

Running showed me that peak state is not an accident. It is a choice. A trained response. A cultivated experience. And once I learned how to intentionally create peak state in running, I realized I could do the same thing in business. The same thing in my relationships. The same thing in my creative work. Peak state became the bridge between who I was and who I could become.

How Peak State Amplifies Business and Life

The first major shift happened when I noticed how dramatically my business improved when I was in peak state. I made better decisions. I communicated more clearly. I served my clients with more confidence and creativity. Projects that once felt overwhelming became energizing challenges. Instead of reacting from stress or scarcity, I acted from purpose and abundance.

Peak state improves everything because it elevates every system within you. Cognitively, you think faster and more clearly. Physically, you have more energy and strength. Emotionally, you stay grounded and resilient. Spiritually, you reconnect with your deeper purpose and vision. When all four of these systems rise together, your performance expands in ways that feel exponential.

This is why elite performers like Nikola Jokic, Tom Brady, and Cristiano Ronaldo continue to show up at the highest levels year after year. It is not just talent. It is not just discipline. It is the ability to reach peak state repeatedly and consistently. They are not simply playing better. They are being better. That internal alignment compounds over time, and the compounding is what creates mastery.

You can apply the same principle to building an eLearning business, leading a team, scaling a global program, or developing your next major project. The more often you operate from peak state, the faster your momentum grows.

Building a Daily Routine to Reach Peak State

Peak state is not reserved for extraordinary days. It is something you can prime every single morning. My own routine took years to refine, and it continues to evolve, but every element serves one goal. It elevates my internal systems so I can start the day already aligned.

I begin with EFT tapping, a practice that rewrites emotional patterns and helps me clear negative energy. It takes only a minute or two, but it changes how I feel immediately. Then I hydrate with water and lemon to signal to my body that it is time to wake up. From there, I review my goals to anchor my subconscious in the direction I want my life and business to go.

Journaling follows, especially when I wake up with heaviness or stress. Writing clears the mental clutter so that gratitude has room to land. Meditation or prayer grounds me, especially when I feel pulled in a thousand directions. And then comes movement. A workout, even a short one, elevates my physiology and amplifies every other habit.

The final step is the cold shower. It is the quickest reset button I have ever found. It brings me from low energy to neutral or better in seconds, and when I am already elevated, the cold shower finalizes the shift into peak state. Over time, this routine trains you to reach peak state faster and stay there longer.

Mindset Work, Coaching, and the Power of State

Peak state is not a bonus. It is essential if you want to create extraordinary outcomes in your business or your life. When I coach clients through my VIP coaching program, we often begin with mindset and state before we ever talk strategy. A powerful state produces powerful execution. A weak state produces hesitation and fear.

When you operate from peak state, you become the version of yourself capable of building a global learning business, earning six figure profits, and leading with clarity and confidence. You move from scarcity to abundance. You see opportunity where others see obstacles. You create from vision rather than pressure.

This is why peak state is a cornerstone of my coaching. Strategy matters, but state comes first.
